Besides playing with historical figures and themes, Lock’s novels stretch the limits of literary conventions. Those unfamiliar with the series may expect more reality with their history, but once you accept that the novel is a wild ride, hang on for the fun. Highly recommended, especially for readers of the series.
Unique in its exploration of the relentlessness of chronic pain, this work succeeds because of creative and candid elaborations on something that is common but difficult to describe. Those living with chronic pain and their caregivers will find Olstein’s personal voyage through pain to be enlightening
Poignant but not tragic, this end-of-civilization story shows that there’s no loneliness in this world when we are one with nature. [See Prepub Alert, 7/1/19.]
