While this could be considered a stand-alone, readers might feel they are in the middle of a tale already in progress; politics are hot right now, and Snow has struck a chord with romance readers

Foster, Melissa. Wicked Whiskey Love. World Literary. (Whiskeys, Bk. 3). Nov. 2018. 300p. ebk. ISBN 9781948004886. $4.99. CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE
Pregnant mother of two, Sarah Beckley is trying to make a new life for herself now that she’s found her brother. She still has her long-lost sister on her mind, but life is starting to feel better. Dr. Bones Whiskey has done his best to make Sarah feel welcome in Peaceful Harbor ever since Bullet Whiskey saved her family from an accident months ago. With emotional and physical abuse throughout Sarah’s past, she grapples with getting used to the notions of safety, home, and “normal” as she is fiercely protective of her children. Exhausted both emotionally and physically, Sarah fears the possibility of being let down over time. Meanwhile, Bones effortlessly mixes sexy and sweet to make Sarah forget the pain of her too-recent past. His ease and attachment to her kids are supercute.
VERDICT Sarah is portrayed as an often detached, self-sufficient heroine. Bones really likes her and wants her just as she is…even through her introspection, which, while necessary, feels like a cop-out to trust and letting go. This title is sweet enough in parts but works best alongside other titles about the Whiskey siblings (Truly, Madly, Whiskey; Driving Whiskey Wild). The book contains a few trigger warnings. While this could be considered a stand-alone, readers might feel they are in the middle of a tale already in progress.—Frannie Strober Cassano, North Bellmore P.L., NY

Snow, Sienna. Commander. Sienna Snow. (Politics of Love, Bk. 3). Oct. 2018. 290p. ebk. ISBN 9781948756044. $3.99. ROMANTIC SUSPENSE
Human rights attorney Tara Zain will become First Lady when she marries tech billionaire and U.S. President Ashur Kumar. Ashur and Tara were sweethearts in their younger years, but his father’s disdain for her pedigree broke them apart. Now Tara has agreed to marry Ashur under a contract that states he will provide funding for her humanitarian efforts while she promises to bear two children and be the dutiful First Lady his administration needs. Their passion is just as fierce as it was, but Tara is not sure she can risk her heart again, especially with the secrets she is keeping. Tara is still very much active with Solon, a secret organization focused on stopping human trafficking, and is knee-deep in a mission to save her best friend, who is being enslaved oversees. If Ashur finds out, her involvement could blow up his political career and destroy her relationship with the only man she has ever loved.
VERDICT Snow’s (Senator) third entry in her “Politics of Love” series hits the mark with intrigue and sexy love scenes. Politics are hot right now, and Snow has struck a chord with romance readers.—Kara Kohn, Plainfield P.L., IL
