Who says nonfiction has to be boring? We beg to differ, and to prove it we are bringing together the authors of three of the most entertaining and accessible, yet educational, nonfiction books that you’ll find on the shelves today. Join us at our free webcast and meet the writers of:
- Americapedia: Taking the Dumb Out of Freedom. Get an overview on just how this crazy country works, with a spoonful of humor to help the information go down. (Think Jon Stewart, for teens.)
- How They Croaked: The Awful Ends of the Awfully Famous. What middle grader can resist reading about the gory details of how nineteen world figures, living in a time before modern medical care, gave up their ghosts?
- Poop Happened!: A History of the World from the Bottom Up. The number one book on “number two” uses historical facts about a familiar bodily function to provide a unique perspective on the past.
Also on hand will be Donna Knoell, a literacy expert with extensive experience working with trade books to bring reading and writing to life for students. She’s taught graduate level courses on children's literature and served on numerous book award committees, several of them focusing on outstanding nonfiction.
Don’t miss this one-hour panel on making facts both fun and informative for kids… And who knows? You may learn something too!
