Jul 8, 2010Pablo Alvarez in August becomes Outreach Librarian and Curator at the University of Michigan Special Collections Library. He was Classics Curator and Curator of Rare Books at the University of Rochester Library, NY.
Judith Field, former Senior Lecturer for Wayne State University School of Library and Information Science, Detroit, has been inducted into the Special Libraries Association's Hall of Fame. Field currently serves on the governing board of IFLA, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions.
Barbara Moran, Professor, School of Information and Library Science, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has been appointed the first Louis Round Wilson Distinguished Professor, established with a gift from the estate of the school's founder, Louis Round Wilson, and state matching funds. Moran joined the faculty in 1981 and was dean from 1990 to 1998, increasing graduate enrollment by 32 percent.
Catherine Ross, Professor at the Faculty of Information and Media Studies, University of Western Ontario, London, has retired and will remain an adjunct faculty member. She won the Jesse Shera American Library Association Award for Research and the ALISE (Association for Library and Information Science Education) Award for Professional Contributions to Library and Information Science Education.
