SAGE launches Insight research blog; SkyRiver expands records partnerships; New Universal Class continuing ed product from Recorded Books; and more

SAGE has launched a new free resource, SAGE Insight, which links to topical articles from across the 560 journals hosted on SAGE's online platform SAGE Journals Online. The links will also appear on Twitter.

Bibliographic utility newcomer SkyRiver has struck deals with a number of new vendor partners, including Baker & Taylor, Ingram, Midwest Library Service, and YBP Library Services. SkyRiver works with these companies to provide ready bibliographic records based on shipping orders, and can also extract data that aids in creating spine labels.

At ALA, Recorded Books will begin offering libraries a new online continuing education service through a product called Universal Class. Via a library subscription, users have free access to some 500 courses, many of which offer continuing education units (CEU) that can be used toward maintaining certifications. Up to five of these video-based courses can be taken by an individual at any given time, which include written transcripts and forum discussion sections available for all as well.

In other Recorded Books news: OHIONET, which serves over 300 academic, public, school, and special libraries in Ohio, West Virginia, and western Pennsylvania, is offering access to a suite of products from Recorded Books. The resources include Byki Online: Library Edition, a language-learning system; ePrep Test Preparation; and One-Click Audio, educational audiobooks.

EBSCO Publishing's new Corporate Learning Watch is an evidence-based monitoring service. Topics include budgeting, community building, evaluation, learning methods and resources, organizational change, and more. It partners with Sustainability Watch and will be joined by the upcoming Food Industry Watch.

Credo Reference is introducing four reference books from Zed Books into its General Reference collection, one of which is The Development Dictionary: A Guide to Knowledge as Power.

Quark, Baker & Taylor, and K-NFB Reading Technology have announced their collaboration on the summer launch of the Blio ereader application with unique delivered content. Content created in Quark can be automatically exported to the Blio format and shared through Baker & Taylor's worldwide distribution network. The application will deliver video and audio clips, interactive web pages, integration with social media, note-taking, exporting capabilities, and more.<
