ALA 2010: On LJ's June 1 Cover, Library Celebs of DC
By LJ Staff Jun 9, 2010In anticipation of the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference later this month, Library Journal tried for something a bit different on its June 1 cover: graphic representations of some prominent figures at the conference, and in the library world, situated around the Capitol building where librarians should by lobbying on June 29. (Cover illustraton by Michael Witte .)
The full key is below, but, yes, that's ALA executive director Keith Fiels with the balloons and conference guest speakers Toni Morrison and Salman Rushdie atop the building. And noted librarian blogger Jessamyn West, pictured with the laptop, expressed her surprise at making the cover. Her readers were happy for her. The conference preview article should be posted online at a later date.
