UCLA Information Studies Professor Beverly P. Lynch is this year’s recipient of the American Library Association (ALA) Joseph W. Lippincott Award. The award, founded in 1938, is given annually to an individual for distinguished service to the profession of librarianship and consists of a 24K gold-framed citation and $1000 donated by the award founder’s grandson, Joseph W. Lippincott, III.
Lynch received the award for her "significant and enduring contributions to the library profession both nationally and internationally." She is director of UCLA’s Senior Fellow Program and founding director of the California Rare Book School. She has been president of the Center for Research Libraries, University Librarian and professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, executive director of the Association of College and Research Libraries, and has worked as a librarian and administrator in the libraries of Yale University, Marquette University, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The award will be presented at the American Library Association’s annual banquet in Chicago in July.
