A new SpringerLink platform launched August 7, with all users automatically entering the new application along with several enhancements. Based on comments and feedback from a usability study, they include related documents for every article or ebook chapter, PDF preview for ebook chapters, abstracts viewable without leaving search results, searching by citation, and easy filters for Online First and Open Access articles.

Springer will also distribute ebooks published by Sense Publishers starting in 2011 as part its ebook collection. Sense produces 100 titles annually in education and educational research, including titles that focus on the student market. Sense will continue to sell print versions of its publications through its own distribution channels.

EBSCO Publishing has launched Food Industry Watch, which covers compliance and regulation as well as food safety, production, and management. This complements other food industry databases available through EBSCO, including Food Science Source and FSTA–Food Science & Technology Abstracts.

EBSCO Publishing was also named a Distinguished Honoree medal in the Most Innovative Company of the Year in the North America category at the 2010 International Business Awards. The awards will be presented at a gala dinner September 27 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey.

Facts On File has debuted World Geography and Culture Online, an updated version of Facts On File’s World Atlas resource. It offers country and state profiles, regularly updated news articles, a geography glossary, a comparison tool, and more than 1300 maps, flags, and other images. Libraries can now purchase subscriptions to titles in JSTOR’s Current Scholarship Program (CSP) via EBSCONET. CSP includes 174 titles from 19 publishers and offers access to extant journal issues and archives. Individual titles are also available.
