    Book Time Program Released in English and English-Spanish Versions
    Scholastic announced September 18 the release of a research-based program that will help teachers develop the vocabulary and comprehension skills of children in their early years. Book Time methodology promotes three oral readings of each book, each focused on a specific reading skill: vocabulary, comprehension, and content area-knowledge/text awareness.

    Miami Book Fair—Celebrating Literary Culture
    The Miami Book Fair International (MBFI) is the annual literary festival in the United States with the strongest line-up of Spanish-speaking authors. Organized by the Florida Center for the Literary Arts and Miami-Dade College, the fair will take place from November 12-19 at the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus.

    Manuel Vargas— A Night of Seven Years
    Bolivian writer Manuel Vargas serves up an antidote for oblivion in Nocturno paceño ("Nights in La Paz"), a novel set during the seven years of Hugo Bánzer's dictatorship. Since 1996, he has been editorial director of both the publishing house Correveidile and a magazine of the same name. Vargas spoke to Críticas about his reflections on the revolutionary years in Latin America, and what went into his latest work.
