Scholastic to Join Children's Multi-Media Programming Venture Scholastic, NBC Universal, Corus Entertainment, and Classic Media/Big Idea joined forces with the national TV distribution systems of ION Media Networks and NBC Universal to launch QUBO, a multi-platform children's television network. The network will broadcast in both Spanish (Telemundo) and English (iNetwork) starting this month.
Hudson Group Partners with Martínez in Airport In March, airport retailer Hudson Group partnered with Librería Martínez Books and Art Gallery owner Rueben Martínez on a winning bid to add three bookstores at John Wayne/Orange County International Airport. Martínez owns a 15 percent interest in the new stores, which will open this fall with several bays of Spanish-language books and magazines.

The Language Debate is About Fear
When I think about that strange and wonderful and not so newborn child of the publishing world known as the bilingual book, other inextricably related issues seem to spin ceaselessly about in my thoughts. I, too, have my own bilingual editions of Neruda and Lorca that I treasure. Such texts inspire and motivate me to continue my too random, too often interspersed efforts to learn Spanish, a language I wholly regret not acquiring as a child, the most fertile and facilitating period for a person to learn a language.
