I agree wholeheartedly to the opinion posted below. These people just wanted the "glitzy" Hollywood Title. They were POOR Managers, only out to protect themselves. They did not care about the "little people". If there pocket books were getting full while they milked the Company for everything it was worth, plus some, that was all that mattered. They drove a 90 year old legacy into the ground and have affected the lives of many families who are now struggling to pick up the pieces. But they sure profited didn''t they?
In addition to laying off everyone, they are refusing to pay out any accrued vacation time to these people. What they are doing to the employees is illegal. I sincerely hope these people never work in this town again!

David Rand, i admire your integrity and stamina to not let the Meteor issue sink into oblivion.
I hope Variety will finally write about it.

The demise of Pac Title is sad given its illustrious history. It is yet another example of what happens when entertainment industry companies are acquired by companies outside of our industry. They buy the companies for the perceived glitz of being involved in Hollywood and then quickly discover that profit margins in VFX/post are small. They don't have the passion for the business and pull the plug.

It is unfortunate that a company can be given $3 MILLION DOLLARS, one
year ago, and go out of business that quickly. That is a lot of money to
have burned through. Seems to me that a more prudent, less spend
attitude should have been adopted much sooner.

If Pac Title had not been bought by Ticonderoga Capital
and Celerity Partners, would it have been more likely to
have survived? It faced tough periods before in its 90
years of operations, and obviously survived them. I ask
because there have been many such instances in the news
during the last year -- equity funds that bought up
established companies, which went on to fail soon
afterwards.

Just wanted to note PacTitle was a wonderful company to work with on Fast and Furious. Very saddened to hear of all this.

I have to follow up with what David Rand said regarding the lack of coverage by variety on such a HUGE story. Please write about and look into the continual abuse of VFX artists. In particular the case he cited about Meteor Studios and The Journey to the Center of the Earth production where so many people are owed so much money, but have thus far been ignored by major press.
Variety claims to be news reporters of the entertainment industry...PLEASE report on this. Thank you.
