  • ARL: OCLC Review a Chance To Be Heard on Policy Change
    With the announcement of an Association of Research Libraries and Association of Southeastern Research Libraries committee to review OCLC's "Policy for Use and Transfer of WorldCat Records," ARL director Charles Lowery told the LJ Academic Newswire this week that the committee will assure that more voices are heard by OCLC before the policy is implemented. Of course, those voices will have to hurry—the committee has given itself a January 16 deadline.

  • At Last! Supreme Court Decision on Tasini Settlement Expected—in 2009
    Here’s something else to look forward to in early 2009—a decision on whether the Supreme Court will review a Second Circuit decision that quashed the Tasini settlement on jurisdictional grounds is now expected after the Court's recess ends January 9, 2009.
