Tim Burton and Johhny Depp Reteaming for Alice in WonderlandOctober 6, 2008He’s already turned Charlie and the Chocolate Factory into a freak show, and now director Tim Burton may be performing a similar act with another long-time kiddie fav, Alice in Wonderland. Variety reports that Burton will use a combination of Live action and animation (the film will be in 3-D) and is reteaming with favorite star Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. The biggest reason for Burton’s take on Charlie being so mondo bizarro is Depp’s interpretation of Willy Wonka as a combination of Michael Jackson and an Internet predator (give me Gene Wilder any day), so since Burton loves freaks, Depp’s Hatter will probably give people LSD flashbacks to the ‘60s. In response to: Tim Burton and Johhny Depp Reteaming for Alice in Wonderland Keith Van Allen commented: Micheal;I've been working with Ray Bradbury at his request (a great honor indeed)on an animated short film based on one of his classic short stories. We recently hit on a way to make the project viable, by making it a non profit "functional film " that will do multiple duty as not only an exponent of Ray's imagination but also a promotional vehicle to save libraries ,encourage kids to read,as well as USE libraries.I'm currently networking to that end and saw this post with which I agree. I'm committed to "doing the book" when I make a film. This project will also be a public service announcement for broadcast, web, etc.,including comments by Ray on video.Ray told me yesterday that he worked on his own with the Long Beach Library and not with any associations,(such as the ALA or NEA).I've never attempted a project of this nature and am seeking supportive connections to make this wonderful project a reality, one that Ray is extremely excited about.I want very much to make him happy as we as serve this worthy cause.Much animation has been completed.Feel free to contact Ray about this and keep up your own good work.My email is vananim@vcu.org and my website is www.vanallenanimation.com Thanks,KVA
