Good Things Happen to Those Who Wait

October 31, 2007 A decade after Junot Díaz burst upon the literary scene with Drown,  his acclaimed debut collection of short stories, the Dominican American author finally published his first novel, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, this year to mostly rave reviews.

At  a benefit and awards dinner in New York City on October 29, the Mercantile Library Center for Fiction recognized Díaz's accomplishment by awarding him the 2007 John Sargent Sr. First Novel Prize. Congratulations, Junot, and I hope we don't have to wait another ten years for your next novel!
