A "mook" by any other name

In February, O'Reilly, the innovative computer book and online media publisher, launched a "mook," which combines the visual appeal of a magazine with the durability (content- and binding-wise) of a book. Published four times a year as a softcover, complete with an ISBN, Make packs plenty of D.I.Y. techie projects, from building a mini blimp to modding a car. With a paid circulation of 80,000 nine months into its run, Make appears to have it made, but what do librarians think of the Japanese-pioneered format? Where does a mook belong, the rack or the shelves?--Heather McCormack
