EBSCO’s GreenFILE™
April 2, 2008

There may not be a free lunch, but there are a few free databases out there, and GreenFILE is the newest one EBSCO has made available to the research world.  It affords free indexing access to both general interest and scholarly titles, along with government reports and other documents. In its initial incarnation, the file indexes over 600 titles, spanning relevant environmental literature across several disciplines, including agriculture, education, health, law, and technology, with about 300,000 records and full text for open access titles. Comprehensive indexing of Bioscience (back to 1964), Conservation Biology (back to 1987), the Journal of Ecology (back to 1913), and the Journal of Environmental Planning & Management (back to 1948) is provided, and oh yes, did I mention the searchable cited references for more than 200 titles in the database?

Do take a look -- this resource will be helpful to many, especially libraries who can't afford online access to other environmental databases. And kudos to EBSCO for another free file online

More as it happens,
Cheryl
