Plug and Project: What I REALLY Want in 2009

January 5, 2009

A projector-based home theater, circa 2006.I’m bypassing the resolutions this year and going right to asking for exactly what I want instead – it’s much more fun, and realistic, to boot. The first thing I REALLY, REALLY want is: a low-priced, light-weight LCD projector I can buy for myself and hook up EASILY to either a PC or Mac. This would make life SOOOOOO much easier, and more productive. Now that I’ve got my Air I want to be able to take the library show on the road much more, but ¡Ay, caramba!, connecting to different projectors is such a hassle.

I haven’t found just the right machine yet, but if any reader knows of such a one, I will be eternally (well, for a week at least) grateful if you will make ME aware of it. If you don’t want to tell me here, e-mail me with the info., please, at: claguard@fas.harvard.edu.

Thanks in advance – my only articulated resolution for the year is to strive for less grey hair, and finding the right projector would be a step in the right direction.

More as it happens, on the move,

Cheryl

For the price of a MACBook, ie about $1,300.00 you can get a really good projector. One that is relatively quiet, has a number of built in peripheral connections, and a remote control. I would recommend the OPTOMA EP770. Others are as good, but for the price, this one kicks!

Thanks for this info.! I'm hoping to find something a little less costly (cheaper!) but I'll take a look at the one you recommend. Thanks again, Cheryl
