The Best Library Combo? With a Fudge Shop

April 15, 2008

In a Christian Science Monitor essay headlined The charms of a small-town library, Marla Kay Houghteling writes,
"Our library is located on the second floor of a solid brick building. On the lower level are a fudge shop and drugstore... During my lifetime, I've been a card-carrying member of several small-town libraries – some adjoined to police stations, some to firehouses. But the best library combo is with a fudge shop"

The article doesn't state the location of the writer's small-town library, but a web search suggests she lives in Friendship Township, in northern Michigan, population (2000) of 844.
