Dialog is coming to the aid of those information professionals who have lost their jobs in the economic downturn. The company is waiving standard Dialog start-up and service fees, offering free Dialindex® service and throwing in ten percent discount on Dialog usage to librarians and information professionals who have recently been laid off. The aim of the program is to help these professionals use Dialog’s powerful resources do their job search, retain and develop their search skills, and even do some independent consulting while they look for employment. Free access and discounts can be used for up to 12 months. Librarians and information professionals who have become unemployed since September 2008 are eligible. Visit http://www.dialog.com/careers/program_ uip/ to apply for the new program. “For many of these librarians, losing their job means losing their Dialog access, too,” said Suzanne BeDell, Dialog General Manager. “We want to be sure we’re there for them when they need us most.”

Auto-Graphics, Inc. has formed two strategic alliances. First, the vendor has partnered with ChiliFresh Enterprises, Inc., a provider of Web 2.0 functionality, to more flexibly integrate ChiliFresh’s Review Engine into Auto- Graphics AGent™ suite of library automation solutions and other library systems. The two companies worked together to develop a web services application that allows libraries to adapt integrated ChiliFresh content into a customized results set display. Additionally, Auto- Graphics is working with Index Data LLC, a software development company specializing in information retrieval, to provide state-ofthe- art, standards-based integrated search and discovery software to the library industry. The partnership will further solidify a relationship that began in 2001 and will allow the companies to more fully integrate Index Data’s Pazpar2™ search engine and its accompanying technologies into AGent to provide an enhanced search and discovery experience.

IGI Global has released a new electronic resources platform to showcase its reference publications in information science and technology research at http://new.igi-global.com, featuring content from its InfoSci-Journals, with thousands of articles from more than 100 journals. To mark the launch, the company is providing free access to the International Journal on Semantic Web and Information System’s article “Linked Data – The Story So Far” by Christian Bizer, Tom Heath, and Tim Berners-Lee as a sample of the content available.

Credo Reference has signed an agreement to launch a SAGE Reference Publisher Collection, which will see nearly 70 SAGE Reference titles available through Credo’s platform. This Publisher Collection will offer SAGE resources either as a complete collection or as individual titles. Librarians will be able to obtain these resources either by subscription or purchase. Included in the deal are the Encyclopedia of Anthropology, Encyclopedia of Counseling, Encyclopedia of Business Ethics & Society, Encyclopedia of Disability, and others. “We’re pleased to incorporate our SAGE Reference titles into the Credo Reference platform,” commented Rolf Janke, SAGE Reference VP and publisher. The agreement is nonexclusive, with the materials also available directly from SAGE’s Reference Online and through the Gale Virtual Reference Library.
