ALA Annual Conference: ALA 2009 registration figures on the rise

Raya Kuzyk -- Library Journal, 07/09/2009

  • Statistics from one week out
  • Number of registrants now 13,402
  • Chicago 2005 figures near-identical

When LJ last reported on registration figures for the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference, which begins today and continues through July 15 in Chicago, there were 12,273 registered attendees, compared with 10,940 at last year’s event in Anaheim, CA, and 12,787 for the last meeting in Chicago. That was four weeks out. Figures from one week ago show a healthy rise, with the number of registered ALA 2009 attendees now at 13,402—1,893 more than those registered for Anaheim 2008 and just five shy of the 13,407 registered for Chicago 2005.
