Christopher J. Prom, assistant university archivist and associate professor of library administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has received a 2009-2010 U.S. Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Award. According to the university, "Prom will spend the next academic year on sabbatical as a research fellow at the Center for Archive and Information Studies at the University of Dundee in Scotland, where he will pursue a project titled 'Practical Methods to Identify, Preserve, and Provide Access to Electronic Records.'"
Tom Fitzgerald has joined ABC-CLIO as Vice President, Sales & Marketing. He will be based out of the Santa Barbara, CA, office and report directly to company president Becky Snyder. He has over 30 years of sales and marketing management experience in both the private and public sectors. Fitzgerald previously worked at Digital Equipment, Apple, Dell Computer, Gateway, PowerSchool (now Pearson School Systems), and others. Most recently, he helped found and was CEO of Ascend Education, a provider of web-based math intervention software solutions for the K–12 market.
The University of Maryland Libraries has hired Irene Munster to be the new Associate Director/Head of the Library at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG). will head all Shady Grove Library activities and "will also assist in the development of the Montgomery County Public Schools Professional Library, which is located at USG through a partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools."
