The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has named Paula T. Kaufman the initial Juanita J. and Robert E. Simpson Dean of Libraries. The ten-year-veteran currently is university librarian. The deanship was established via a $5 million gift.
Rachel Schipper is the new Associate Dean of Technology and Support Services at the University of Florida’s (UF) George A. Smathers Libraries, Gainesville. UF said Schipper will lead “seven diverse units within the UF library system, including acquisitions, metadata and cataloging, access support, digital services, preservation and conservation, information and technology, and facilities and security.” She comes to UF from her last position as the dean of the Library and Instructional Technology Center at Georgia College and State University for the past four years.
