Joan Bryan, director of libraries at Drexel University, Philadelphia, passed away on December 15 after a brief illness. She served in that position since October 2005. Previously, she was associate university librarian at Princeton University, NJ, and worked at the library at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, for more than 30 years.

Krisellen Maloney will become the next library dean at the University of Texas at San Antonioeffective February 2. She will oversee libraries at the main campus, the downtown campus, and at the Institute of Texas Cultures. Maloney comes from Georgetown University, Washington, DC, where she has served as associate university librarian for digital services and technology planning.

William Wakeling has been appointed dean of university libraries at Northeastern University, Boston. Wakeling has worked at Northeastern since 1998, playing an important role int the Open Content Alliance project via the Boston Library Consortium. He most recently was associate dean for collections and technical services before agreeing to serve as acting dean in July 2007.
