This week, Palgrave Macmillan and its sister company, Nature Publishing Group (NPG), announced they will collaborate to create Palgrave Connect, billed as "a flexible approach" to building an eBook collection in the Humanities, Business and Social Sciences. In all, Palgrave Connect will offer libraries over 4000 ebooks, beginning in January 2009, alongside Palgrave journals content. It will be powered by NPG’s platform.
The Palgrave, NPG partnership will allow librarians to manage their subscriptions to journal and ebook products from both publishers via one administration system and with a single point of contact for customer service. Ebook collections will be organized and sold by year of publication and discipline, and both the backlist and the 2009 collections will be available via a “one-time perpetual access” purchase model. Collections will also offer NPG’s library services, including institutional usage reports and promotional tools. MARC records will be included with all collections at the time of purchase.
Palgrave Macmillan will offer exclusive previews of Palgrave Connect at the American Library Association Midwinter Meeting, in Denver, CO. Visit Palgrave booth # 1113 this January 23-26, 2009 to request a brief demonstration or to register for a free trial.
