Syracuse University (SU), NY, has announced appointments to lead its Learning Commons, a new library organizational unit located in the lower three floors of E.S. Bird

Library: Lesley Pease will serve as director. She was most recently head of the library’s social sciences and area studies department; Brandi Porter is associate director; she previously was head of the professional programs and general reference services department…

The Rhode Island Office of Library and Information Services has announced the following retirements: Melody Lloyd Allen, children’s services/public library development, and Joseph Mcgovern, media services/public library development. McGovern was director of the Rhode Island Library Association’s L-TV program, which is broadcast on a Rhode Island public access station.
