Despite a difficult economy and tightening budgets, both jobs and salaries rose in for 2007 graduates. Among academic libraries, those in the Northeast showed significant growth, with 11.8 percent more graduates hired than in 2006, and salaries up 5.5 percent. Still, 2007 also had its share of challenges: for the second straight year, libraries reported that non-professional and temporary jobs increased, suggesting a number of libraries are struggling to maintain service and personnel levels with fewer resources. Check out the October 15 issue of LJ, out now, or LJ.com on Thursday, for the full report.
