Siva, say it ain’t so! Library Journal Mover & Shaker Siva Vaidhyanathan has officially ceased his popular blog Sivacracy, leaving yet another void in the blogosphere for librarians. Just last month popular copyright blogger William Patry, ceased his blog for an array of personal reasons. Always one to embrace all mediums, Siva delivered his farewell post via YouTube (see below.)

While his blog maybe gone, rest assured Vaidhynathan isn’t going away. He is blogging his current book-in-progress, The Googlization of Everything. So why is Siva suspending his blog? Because, as Patry alluded, blogs can be hard work. “Mainly, it’s a distraction from my day job,” Siva, whose day job is teaching media studies at the University of Virginia, posted last week. He also noted a “massive and painful book deadline” looming. But like Patry, he also had some sobering words on the future of blogging, a popular medium that seems to be losing steam among its ambitious early adopters. “This is less fun than it used to be,” Siva wrote. “Back in 2004 it seemed fun. Blogs were the bomb. Now, I think my blogging voice is hoarse. And I am tired.”
