EBSCO Launches 2.0 Interface
-- Library Journal, 8/15/2008
Taking cues for its redesigned interface from Internet giants like Google, Amazon, and Netflix, EBSCO has pared down the layout and design of its new start page, leaving little more than the basic search bar and button. Advanced features remain accessible, but the default view is thoroughly geared toward simplicity. The new results screen includes standard citation information but enables users to preview an article without navigating away from the results list. Also visible with the standard results list: image thumbnails of relevant supplementary content including photos, illustrations, charts, graphs, and tables. The interface went live for subscribers on July 16. See LJ reference editor Mirela Roncevic's take on EBSCOhost 2.0 and reference products on the ALA show floor.
