Joan Anderson, Director of the Macon-Bibb County Public Libraries, GA, has announced her plans to retire after 30 years of service. Deputy Director Thomas Jones will replace her.

Kevin Davis has been appointed Director, South Portland Public Library, ME. Davis had served as Manager of the library’s Memorial Branch since 2003.

Beth Elder is the new Director of the Salt Lake City Public Library. She formerly was Director of Planning at the Denver Public Library.

Janice Erickson, Director of Lake Oswego Public Library, OR, has been chosen as Director, Shasta Public Libraries, Redding, CA, which is managed by Library Systems & Services, Inc. (LSSI). She replaces Interim Director Linda Mielke, an employee of LSSI.

Denise Galarraga is the new Director, Jackson County Library Services, Medford, OR, an LSSI-managed system. She was Director of the Finney County Public Library, Garden City, KS, also managed by LSSI.

Patricia Hillmer has retired after 28 years as Director of the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library, OH. Jeff Winkle is the new Director; he previously was Director of the Kaubisch Memorial Public Library, Fostoria, OH.

Anne Kenney has been named the 11th Carl A. Kroch University Librarian at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. For the past year, she had been interim university librarian.

Angelynn King has been named Director of the Merrill Library at the University of Maine, Machias, effective in July. She is a Reference/Technical Services Librarian at the University of Redlands, CA.

Cindy Lombardo has been named Main Library Administrator of the Cleveland Public Library. She most recently was Director of the Tuscarawas County Public Library, New Philadelphia, OH.

Janet Martin Welch, New York State Librarian and Assistant Commissioner of Education, has announced that she will retire in June 2008. She has held this position since May 1997.

Maria Chavez-Hernandez, Associate Professor at the College of Information (COI), Florida State University (FSU), Tallahassee, has died. She also coordinated COI’s internship program.
