Michelle Jeske's AV Picks

At PLA 2008, speaker Michelle Jeske gave a nod to ten libraries whose AV web features have inspired the DPL's own AV offerings

At the well-attended (see LJ 5/1, "PLA Draws 10,000 to Minneapolis," p. 15) 2008 Public Library Association National Conference, Michelle Jeske, manager of web information and services and resource sharing, Denver Public Library, led a program titled "Take Your Online Services to the Next Level." In it, she spoke to how story time podcasts, webcast tutorials, and other audio and video elements have helped enrich her library’s web presence and up both online and in-person visits. She credited the following libraries' AV web offerings with inspiring her efforts:

Allen County Public Library, Fort Wayne, IN
• zombie-themed finalist, Thompson Gale’s “I Love My Library” video contest

webcasts created by teens via their cell phones (using the free social broadcasting platform Gabcast)

selection of podcasts and webcasts—with text transcripts
