Cynthia Anderson, Team Leader 1 (Customer Service Staff Supervisor) of the Hilltop Branch, Columbus Metropolitan Library, OH, has retired after 38 years of service.
Barbara Evans has been appointed Assistant Director for Public Services at First Regional Library (FRL), Hernando, MS, a five-county library cooperative. She began working for FRL in 1996 as a Branch Manager.
Pete Giacoma has retired after 25 years with the Davis County Library System, Farmington, UT, the last 16 as Director. He is replaced by Chris Sanford, who has managed the system’s Northern Branch for the past 17 years.
Mary-Carol Lindbloom has become Executive Director at South Central Regional Library Council, Ithaca, NY, a multitype library consortium. She replaced the retiring Jean Currie. Lindbloom most recently was Library Development Consultant at the Alliance Library System, East Peoria, IL.
Gladys Maharam has retired from the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh after 40 years of service. She served as Deputy Director for the past ten years. Maharam also was president of the eiNetwork consortium serving Allegheny County.
Bonnie Beth Mitchell has retired from Worthington Libraries, OH, where she worked since 1993. From 2002, she had been Associate Director of Support Services. Before Worthington, Mitchell was Deputy Executive Director of the Ohio Library Association and the Ohio Library Trustee Association. Worthington was the 2007 Gale/LJ Library of the Year.
Steven Nielsen, Executive Senior VP of Product Development for Alpha Bay, a software company, is the new Director of the Bettendorf Public Library, IA. He replaces Faye Clow, who retired in January after 30 years with the library.
Jo Ann Pinder has been appointed Assistant Director of Baltimore County Library System, Towson, MD. She most recently was a library consultant. Before that, she was Executive Director of the Gwinnett County Public Library, Lawrenceville, GA, the 2000 Gale/LJ Library of the Year.
Thomas Raines has been named Executive Director of the Charleston County Public Library (CCPL), SC. He succeeds Jan Buvinger, who retired in January 2008. Raines most recently was CCPL’s Deputy Director, a post he held for 25 years.
