Book News: Romance Writers Announce RITA and Golden Heart Finalists

  • Golden Heart honors top unpublished manuscripts by would-be authors
  • Winners named at RWA’s August con

The Romance Writers of America® (RWA) have announced the contenders for the 2008 RITA and Golden Heart Awards®.RITA Awards® are presented for romance fiction in 12 categories. This year’s finalists include: Jennifer Greene’s Blame It On Cupid (Harlequin) and Rachel Gibson’s Tangled Up in You (Avon) in the Contemporary Single Title category; Madeline Hunter’s Lessons of Desire (Bantam) and Julianne MacLean’s Surrender to a Scoundrel in the Historical Romances category, and Karen Rose’s Die for Me (Grand Central) and Debra Webb’s Traceless (St. Martin’s) in the Romantic Suspense category.

Golden Heart Awards® are presented in ten categories to would-be authors looking to break into the field for the best unpublished romance manuscripts. Among the nominated are Borrowed Stilettos by Rebecca Clark and Too Late for Love? by Jacqueline Floyd in the Contemporary Series category, Money, Honey by Susan Seyfarth and Love on the Rocks by Mary Sullivan for best Contemporary Single Title, and Earth’s Only Paradise by Cynthia Eernisse Chase and The Lightkeeper’s Wife by Christine Johnson in the Historical category. All winners will be named August 2 at RWA’s 28th Annual National Conference in San Francisco.
