Open source software firm CARE Affiliates is now marketing two additional service initiatives, FaStart and CrOSS. FaStart is being sold as “a complete package of digital repository services for libraries and nonprofit organizations.”

Based on open source software repository products such as Fedora™/Fez, DSpace, and EPrints, the vendor said, the services include discovering the needs of users, arranging for rights management, installing the repository, and then marketing it. CARE also can provide support, maintenance, training, customization, and hosting/SaaS (software as a service) for repositories.

The CrOSS package is for organizations “that have developed open source software applications and wish to see the application broadly marketed and coupled with CARE-provided commercial maintenance/support/development and hosting services,” CARE said.
