LexisNexis Debuts Stats Tool

By Lynn Blumenstein -- Library Journal, 2/15/2008

LexisNexis has released Statistical DataSets, a new online service for academic libraries that aggregates 100 licensed and public domain sources of government and business data and makes 750 million data points accessible through one interface. A reconfiguration of a similar corporate tool from LexisNexis, the service, in partnership with Conquest Systems, Inc., offers multiwindow resource displays, allowing users to select and view data tables and charts (a demo at Midwinter showed this product to be quick and simple to use). Information can be broken down by state, county, and more.

LexisNexis also has expanded its Congressional Research Digital Collection, which now covers more than 200 years of Congressional proceedings and debates. LexisNexis purchased bound index volumes of the Congressional Record from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, to build a comprehensive collection. The collection will be completed in 2009.
