Dallas PL Installing Polaris
By Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 2/1/2008
The Dallas Public Library has selected the Polaris Integrated Library System (ILS) for the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library and 25 branches. The vendor said the new system “will provide patrons with 24/7 access to full-text journal articles, ebooks, and library catalog information. It will allow users to locate materials quickly by integrating cataloging, circulation, acquisitions, and other administrative functions in real time.”
Using the new system, patrons can simultaneously search multiple databases, view digital images, and email search results. In addition, links to book jackets, reviews, and similar materials are offered along with suggestions for misspelled search queries. Patrons also can renew materials and pay fines online. The system goes live May 15.
