Minneapolis-Hennepin Library Merger Finally Is Complete

- Minneapolis PL consolidated into Hennepin County Library
- Merger reopens three closed branches

The Minneapolis Public Library (MPL) has been consolidated into the suburban Hennepin County Library
(HCL), and the grand opening was celebrated January 2 at the central library in Minneapolis. The city, which was the only one in the state to have a mostly elected library board, will have only three seats on the new HCL board.
