by Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 10/15/2007 12:07:00 PM

The Quill Book Awards, under the leadership of Reed Business Information and NBC Universal Television Stations, October 15 announced the names of its special prize winners. The 2007 Quill Variety Blockbuster Book to Film Award went to the Jason Bourne film trilogy. The three films, based on the bestsellers by Robert Ludlum, are The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and the recent The Bourne Ultimatum. Additionally, late Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Halberstam is the posthumous winner of the 2007 Platinum Quill. Best known for his Vietnam War epic The Best and the Brightest, Halberstam also covered the Civil Rights Movement in The Children, basketball in The Breaks of the Game, modern media in The Powers That Be, and New York City firefighters on 9/11 in Firehouse. His most recent book, published after his death, is The Coldest Winter: America and the Korean War (Hyperion). Lastly, the 2007 Corporate Literacy Quill has been awarded to Time Warner Inc. “for its commitment to education, and in particular, to Time Warner Cable in recognition of its more than two decades of work to improve reading and literacy in our country.” The remainder of the Quill Awards will be presented October 22.
