Although graphic novelist Neil Gaiman is a star of the field, he’s about to get national exposure thanks to the release of the feature film adaptation of his title Stardust, starring Robert DeNiro and Michelle Pfeiffer, which opens nationwide August 10. Stardust is the first of several Hollywood projects Gaiman is involved in—his adaptation of Beowulf opens in November and 2008 will bring a big screen version of his children’s book Coraline—a windfall for the 46-year-old author who has been unsuccessfully pitching stories to producers for years. Most authors would be ecstatic over the attention, not to mention the money, but Gaiman told Time magazine he has trepidations. “Five years ago, I was absolutely as famous as I wanted to be,” he told the publication. “I’m now more famous than I’m comfortable with.”
