Mercer Appointed Ex Libris President
By Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 6/1/2007
Ex Libris Group May 8 announced the appointment of Robert Mercer as the new president of its North American operations, succeeding Dan Trajman, who will remain “with the company in a consulting capacity through the end of 2007.” Trajman joined the organization in 2004. The vendor said that Mercer's résumé includes more than 15 years' experience in “customer-facing executive positions in technology,” the latest as regional VP for the business intelligence company SAS Institute, Inc., where he is credited with “growth of greater than 40 percent.” From the brief announcement, none of his experience appears to be in libraries. (Trajman also came from a nonlibrary background.) The change in leadership is the latest in an ongoing revamping of Ex Libris, beginning with its purchase by private equity firm Francisco Partners in July 2006, and the subsequent acquisition of Endeavor Information Systems four months later.
