Amy Friedlander has been appointed Director of Programs for the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR). She most recently was Senior Program Manager at Shinkuro, Inc., a U.S.–based research and development company. Prior to that she was Special Projects Associate at CLIR.

Donald King has been appointed Distinguished Research Professor at the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. King is currently Coprincipal Investigator on four government-funded studies relating to libraries. Since retiring in the mid-1990s, his research contributions have been pro bono. He was the cofounder of Westat, Inc., a survey research company, as well as King Research, Inc., a firm that focused on research in information and communication services.

Debra Lissak is the new Executive Director, Urbana Free Library, IL, having worked there for 26 years, the last 23 as Associate Director. She replaces Fred Schlipf, who is retiring after 32 years of service.

Valerie Osborne, Director of the Old Town Library, ME, for the past 25 years, is moving on. She will become the Northeast District Libraries Consultant for the Maine State Library, Augusta.

Barbara Wolfe is now Director, Moorpark City Library, CA. She formerly was Community Librarian, West Bank Branch, Okanagan Regional Library, Kelowna, BC.

Victor Zazueta has been named County Librarian of the Humboldt County Library, Eureka, CA. He most recently was Reference Librarian at Imperial Valley College, CA, and before that Director of the El Centro Public Library, CA.

Obituary

William Lindgren, former Academic Librarian, has died. He was Head of the Catalog Department at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, from 1960 until his retirement in 1988. He also was a Cataloger at the University of Oregon, Eugene, and at the University of Arizona, Tucson.

Sherrie Snyder, retired Librarian, died on March 1 at the age of 59. She worked at Cleveland Public Library, went on to what was then the Mahoning County Library, OH, and after earning her MLS degree worked at libraries in Lancaster County, PA, and at state libraries in Ohio and Utah. She became Director of the City of Moline Public Library, IL, and then a Consultant at Ohio State University. Snyder was a past Councilor of the American Library Association.
