Pennsylvania Contracts with WebFeat
-- Library Journal, 5/7/2007
The state of Pennsylvania has tapped WebFeat to provide its libraries with federated searching. The vendor said that its Enterprise Edition "will provide Access Pennsylvania and POWER Library (Pennsylvania Online World of Electronic Resources) participating libraries, along with all authenticated Pennsylvania residents, a way to search any or all POWER Library Databases, external resources databases, the Access Pennsylvania Database, the Access Pennsylvania Digital Repository, and selected free web resources simultaneously and with a single intuitive interface." Pennsylvania also will use WebFeat's SMART Usage Tracker, which will track and report database usage across the network and by individual library. WebFeat said it is compatible with all Access Pennsylvania and POWER Library resources including the Access Pennsylvania Database (housed on a server at HSLC/Access Pennsylvania), a union catalog that contains approximately 13.5 million titles and over 61 million items. WebFeat will work with HSLC/Access Pennsylvania and with the staffs of Commonwealth Libraries and the POWER Library to develop a custom user-interface for searching all of the electronic resources available to the citizens of the Commonwealth.
