2007 Day of Dialog for Publishers, Vendors, and Librarians

This perennially popular—and free—all-day program for collection development/management librarians and library directors brings together several hundred librarians, along with distributors, publishers, and authors. You don't need to register for the Book Expo America to attend.

Check-in will begin at 8:15 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. The wrap-up: a networking happy hour from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.. No fee. Registration is limited.

Preliminary Program

8:15–9:00 a.m.: Breakfast and Registration

9:00–9:15 a.m.: Welcome

9:15–10:15 a.m.: The Most Banned Children's Book of the Year—And Tango Makes Three (S. & S.)
The authors, Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell, and the editor, David Gale, who conceived, wrote, and published And Tango Makes Three as well as a noted librarian/intellectual freedom advocate Pat Scales will discuss the book's genesis, impact, and the efforts to censor it.

  • Justin Richardson, MD, is an assistant professor of psychiatry at Columbia and Cornell and co-author (with Mark Schuster) of Everything You Never Wanted Your Kids to Know about Sex (But Were Afraid They’d Ask). He has appeared on the Today show and NPR’s Morning Edition.
  • Peter Parnell is a playwright whose drama QED was produced by the Lincoln Center Theatre Company on Broadway. He has written extensively for television as a producer for both The West Wing and The Guardian.
