Sommers Leaves SirsiDynix

-- Library Journal, 2/20/2007

On February 16, on the eve of the SirsiDynix Super Conference, the user's group meeting, the company announced that Pat Sommers had vacated his six-year post as CEO. The vendor, which was recently purchased by Vista Equity Partners, said the search for Sommers’s successor “will begin immediately." Sommers came to Sirsi in 2001 before its 2005 acquisition of Dynix and oversaw the buyouts of DRA and Docutek. Commenting on Sommers's quick exit, Martin Taylor, operating principal of Vista Equity Partners, said, “Pat has done a marvelous job of leading and growing SirsiDynix. Under his tenure, SirsiDynix has become the world leader in the integrated library system market. Over the last few months, the Vista leadership team has enjoyed getting to know Pat. I know I speak for our entire team when I say that his passion for SirsiDynix customers and his dedication to SirsiDynix employees will be missed.”

Taylor said he will partner closely with the SirsiDynix management team to ensure a smooth transition. “Together, we will work diligently to remain the most stable and most innovative technology company serving libraries and their communities. There are tremendous opportunities out there for SirsiDynix and for our customers, and we are excited about the present and the future.”
