Audrey Avery has been appointed Head of Children’s Services at the Dover Public Library, DE. Previously, she was the Children’s Librarian at the Kinnelon Public Library, NJ.
Janet “Jenny” Benedict is the new Deputy Chief Librarian for Public Services at the Hartford Public Library. Benedict comes from the Harford County Public Library, Belcamp, MD, where she was Librarian at the main branch in Bel Air.
Martha Brogan has been appointed Associate University Librarian for Collection Development and Management at the University of Pennsylvania Library, Philadelphia. Most recently, Brogan worked as a Researcher under the auspices of the Council on Library and Information Resources, Digital Library Federation, and Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
Diane Colson is the new Youth Services Manager at the headquarters library of the Alachua County Library District (ACLD), Gainesville, FL. Colson has worked at ACLD for more than eight years, most recently as a Librarian at the Millhopper Branch.
Stephen Dew has been named Collections and Scholarly Resources Coordinator at the University Libraries, University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He comes from the University of Iowa Libraries, Iowa City, where he was Coordinator of Library Services for Distance Education.
Kathy Dugan has been appointed Director of the Willoughby-Eastlake Library, OH. Dugan has been Deputy Director of the library for the past three years. She replaces Director Jeff French, who retired January 31.
Laura Einstadter is the new Director, Amador County Library, Jackson, CA. She previously managed the Pinole, Crockett, and Rodeo branches, Contra Costa County Library, Pleasant Hill, CA.
Joan Johnson has been appointed Director of Central Library and Special Projects at the Milwaukee Public Library. She most recently was Branch Manager II for Neighborhood Libraries at Seattle Public Library.
Helen Josephine will join the libraries and academic information resources team at Stanford University, CA, as Head Librarian for Engineering, beginning in March 2007. She has more than 25 years’ experience as an information professional, including six years at Intel, where she was Manager of the Information Management Group.
S. Rebecca Lubin has joined the staff of Albany Public Library, NY, as Branch Librarian at the Delaware Branch. Previously, she served as Director of the Rensselaerville Library, NY.
Veronda Pitchford has been named Vice President of Communications and Membership of the Urban Libraries Council (ULC). She joined ULC in 2005 as Program Officer and before that was Assistant Director of the Chicago office and Director of Services for Academic and Special Libraries for the Metropolitan Library System, Chicago. Pitchford was a 2005 LJ Mover & Shaker.
Holbrook Sample has been appointed Branch Manager at the new Bond Hill Branch of the Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton County. The branch will relocate to a new facility in August 2007 and incorporate the Roselawn Branch. He most recently was Branch Manager at Greenhills.
Frederick Stielow has been named Dean of Libraries and Educational Materials at American Military University, Charles Town, WV. Previously he was Associate Professor of the School of Library and Information Science at Catholic University, Washington, DC. He also has taught at the University of Maryland, College Park.
