Keeping Your Community Connected—the Video

-- Library Journal, 1/30/2007

Along with its commitment of new funding to boost technology in public libraries, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has released a brochure and video, both titled "Keeping Your Community Connected", to help library advocates make the case for funding locally. The eight-minute video, which LJ has put online (with the foundation’s permission), features testimony from a variety of library users, in communities from big-city Chicago to small-town South Carolina, regarding the important impact that library-provided computers and the Internet access has made on their lives.

Libraries can request from the foundation a free DVD and ten brochures, which include statistics on connectivity, library patron stories, and a call for community members and leaders to act.

Watch the video now. (Talk Back and tell us what you think!)
