Scirus, Elsevier’s freebie science search engine, is expanding its horizons via two partnerships. Scirus has joined with CrossRef to become a Web Services Search Partner, which allows Scirus to “collect metadata from hundreds of participating publishers via CrossRef’s new Web Services protocol.” CrossRef keeps its indexed data current and uses digital object identifiers to ensure that links to the source material are accurate.

Additionally, Scirus also has partnered with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) “to index its two institutional repositories, ePrints@IISc (an eprints archiving facility) and etd@IISc (a digital repository of theses and dissertations of IISc students and researchers). IISc’s archive has more than 250 million pages of scientific data.
