Library Student Journal Emerges Online

-- Library Journal, 10/4/2006

The first issue of Library Student Journal, an international peer-reviewed open access journal, has been posted online, including papers from Library and Information Science (LIS) students around the world. Editor Eli Guinnee, an MLS Candidate at Department of Library and Information Studies, SUNY Buffalo, states that the journal, as with the field, will take advantage of "developing technologies and the evolving ways in which information is communicated," and that open access is the inevitable form for scholarly journals. A poll posted on the LSJ web site asks visitors what they call the people who come to the library. At the top of the list is Patrons, outpacing Users, Customers, Clients, and Readers.
