Wichita PL Upgrades to Horizon 8.0

-- Library Journal, 8/21/2006

The Wichita PL, KS, is continuing its 15-year relationship with the vendor now known as SirsiDynix by opting to upgrade to Horizon 8.0. The vendor said the installation will be completed by this December. Additionally, Delaware PLs and schools have agreed to pilot the vendor's SchoolRooms portal aimed at the K–12 audience. According to SirsiDynix, the pilot launch of SchoolRooms "will take place at Sussex Technical High School, in Georgetown and in Sussex County public libraries in the fall of 2006. SchoolRooms, which was developed in collaboration with INFOhio, provides a single interface to content from the school library's catalog, other public library catalogs, online databases, e-content from publishers, popular Internet search engine results, and teacher-selected Web sites, and meets both federal and state education standards. The project is spearheaded by the Delaware Division of Libraries with support from the Governor's Task Force on School Libraries.
