ALA COA Announces Accreditation Actions

The Committee on Accreditation (COA) of the American Library Association (ALA) has announced accreditation actions taken at the 2005 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago. Among its actions, COA announced that the Master of Library and Information Science program offered by the School of Library and Information Science, University of Southern Mississippi, has been granted continued accreditation until 2012 “unless evidence persuades COA that the review should be conducted at an earlier or later date.”
COA also continued the accreditation of the following graduate programs: Master of Library Science and Master of Information Science offered by the School of Library and Information Science, Indiana University; Master of Library and Information Science offered by the School of Library and Information Science, Louisiana State University; and Master of Arts in Library Science offered by the School of Education, Information Science and Learning Technologies, University of Missouri–-Columbia. COA has granted conditional accreditation to the following programs: Master of Library Science offered by the School of Library and Information Management, Emporia State University, KS and Master of Library and Information Studies offered by the Department of Library and Information Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
