ProQuest “Moving Forward”—Prexy
By Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 6/15/2006
To combat the half-truths being bandied about in the press about the company's financial situation and its future, ProQuest president Skip Prichard, in an exclusive interview with LJ, said he “wants librarians to have a clear understanding that the company is in contact with key customers” to assure them “we have a clear strategy for moving forward” (see InfoTech, LJ 6/1/06, p. 27).
Prichard said that the Information and Learning unit familiar to librarians has from $235 million to $260 million in revenue and is “on track for $50 million in product capital. New products are on schedule, and we'll be releasing a new product every month in 2007.”
Along with claims of financial viability, ProQuest management remains “extremely focused on customers,” and all its previous support, including awards and scholarships, will continue. “ProQuest has been around 70 years, and the financial restatement in no way cripples our business plans to move forward,” said Prichard.
